Headset microphone
A headset microphone is something that very few people
take a lot of time to look into before purchasing, but if they did,
they would find that there are definitely differences between the different
types.
When buying a headset microphone, you should:
• Buy a headset microphone that you know will work with the speech-recognition
software you have on your computer. If the microphone does not match
up well with the operating system, it could be difficult or impossible
to use.
• If a headset microphone is being used in an environment where
there might be a lot of background noise, there is noise-canceling technology
that can significantly improve the accuracy of speech recognition.
• The headset microphone will probably be most effective if you
choose a headset with a long, flexible microphone that can be positioned
close (but not too close) to your mouth. A microphone that is not flexible
may not be able to get close enough to your mouth to pick up what you
are saying very well.
• If you use a headset microphone very often in the office, but
you like to get up and be able to move around, you may want to look
into getting a wireless Bluetooth headset that will give you the mobility
you want.
A headset microphone that has features like a mute button and a volume
control would also likely be worthwhile to you.
